P02 | Prototyping Snowflakes

Prototyping is key in any design process. For us it entailed cutting smaller versions of the base module (we call them snowflakes) and arranging them in different ways to see how it would look overlapped with other modules (like the boomerang) and the shadows that they would make. We used vellum for the small prototypes and tested a few with the coated nylon we ended up using in the final installation. To connect each module, we utilized plastic translucent snaps (details!)

Based on these prototypes we made changes in our Grasshopper file. We decided to add more parametric variability by changing the thickness of the snowflakes based on selected attractors.
