Caster | App Design Process

I enjoy listening to podcasts, but I don't do it as frequently since the apps that I use to listen to them are terrible. Because of this dreadful experience, I decided to redesign a podcast app for the communications design course I'm taking this semester. I had to choose a persona, define the goals that I want the app to complete, create a sitemap, and sketch out wireframes before completing the design. The initial designs are horrid - I don't even know why I chose that neon-vomit-green or rounded the rectangles so much. I overthought everything and made wrong decisions because I was new to this area in graphic design and felt daunted by anything related to UI/UX design. Turned out it was all in my head and I want to do more of this!

App Goals

  • To easily access and organize Podcasts shows and episodes

  • To mark and make notes in the episodes and keep track of them in one location

  • To have quick functions during Listen Mode to avoid distractions and possible car accidents

  • To provide a platform where our users can discover new shows
